Business Insider Apple/Business Insider Apple is turning up to the foldable smartphone game fashionably late, and fans of the brand are excited as iPhone Duo preorders are now live. Learn how to secure your device now, before stock dwindles and ship dates are pushed further. Apple iPhone Duo Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the Duo, features a compact 5.4-inch outer screen that unfolds into a much larger 7.6-inch display for multitasking, gaming, and streaming.
It also packs the A20 Pro chip, a 48MP dual-camera system, and all-day battery life, making it a seriously premium option for anyone who wants more screen without carrying a tablet. The iPhone Duo combines a compact outer display with a larger foldable screen inside, giving you more room when you need it without making the phone feel obtuse all the time. It also brings Apple's latest performance and camera upgrades, making it a more flexible option for everyday use.
For iOS fans who use their smartphone for everything, it's a long-awaited upgrade. If you're already sold on Apple's first foldable, I'll break down how to preorder the iPhone Duo, where it'll be available, and the carrier and trade-in deals worth checking before you buy, below. How to buy the iPhone Duo To secure your iPhone Duo order, just head to your carrier of choice (like Verizon or T-Mobile ), add your preferred color and size to your cart, then proceed to checkout.
What's new in the iPhone Duo Apple The iPhone Duo is a precedent-setting device, Apple's first-ever foldable. Since this is the very first generation, it makes no improvements over earlier versions. Instead, it starts with the tech Apple has been perfecting over the years while hopefully learning from the competition.
Here are some of the most exciting features to come: Foldable dual-screen design : The iPhone Duo has a 5.4-inch outer display for normal phone use and opens into a much larger 7.6-inch inner display. Both screens support ProMotion, Always-On display, and up to 3,000 nits of outdoor brightness. Space for multitasking : The larger inner screen lets you run two apps side by side with Split View, open two windows of the same app, save app pairs, and quickly switch between apps.
It's Apple's biggest step into "tablet" performance territory for the smartphone. A20 Pro performance : It uses the same A20 Pro chip found in the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, along with a vapor-chamber cooling system designed to maintain steady performance during gaming, multitasking, and AI-heavy tasks. In our tests, we've already found it to be a powerful and effective setup. 48MP dual-camera system : The Duo has a 48MP main camera with 2x optical-quality zoom and a 48MP Ultra Wide camera that also handles macro photography.
Its folding design also lets you use the rear cameras for higher-quality selfies while previewing the shot on the outside screen. New foldable camera tricks : Features like Duo Preview show your subject what the camera sees on the outer screen, while the phone can be partially folded and propped up for hands-free photos, videos, and FaceTime calls. Dual-battery design : Apple put a battery in each half of the phone.
It advertises up to 31 hours of video playback with the inner display and up to 44 hours with the outer display. iOS 27 designed for folding : The software automatically rearranges itself depending on whether the phone is open, closed, rotated, or partially folded. StandBy also works on either display, even when the phone isn't charging. Siri AI and Apple Intelligence : The Duo supports Apple's new Siri AI, which can use personal context and onscreen awareness to answer questions and perform actions.
The larger display also lets you keep Siri open alongside another app. Apple Pencil support : Finally, the Apple Pencil with USB-C will work with both Duo displays later this year, giving the foldable more tablet-like functionality for notes, sketches, and document markup. Wireless charging Apple Pencils aren't compatible.
Touch ID, instead of relying solely on Face ID : Touch ID is built into the side button, making it easy to unlock the Duo whether it's open or closed. It's the return of a beloved feature for many old iPhone users. Premium foldable construction : The phone features grade 5 titanium, a precision hinge that keeps the inner display flat, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
It comes in star white and night sky. When will the iPhone Duo release? The iPhone Duo will start shipping out to shoppers starting on Friday, October 23.
As of now, all purchases are preorders and will be fulfilled on or after that date. Even though there's a week between release and preorder, stock is very limited for the coveted new foldable. I recommend ordering as soon as possible to prevent your phone's shipping date from getting delayed any further.
